Net worth is what someone owns minus what they owe. For public figures, neither side of that equation is usually public, so every number on CelebGrid is an estimate. Here is how we build one.
1. List the income that can be verified
We start with earnings that are on the record: reported contracts and salaries, prize money, tour grosses, box office and TV deals, book advances, business sales and publicly reported endorsement deals.
2. Account for what doesn’t stay
Gross earnings are not wealth. Taxes, agent and manager commissions, legal fees, divorces and living costs can take a large share. We factor these in rather than adding up headline paychecks.
3. Add known assets
Where property purchases, company stakes or other assets have been reported by credible outlets or appear in public records, we include them.
4. Compare published estimates
We check the figures already published by business outlets and net worth databases. When they differ, we show the range and explain which end our research supports.
5. Say when there is no reliable number
For private individuals and people early in their careers, there often isn’t enough information for a responsible figure. In those cases we say so plainly and explain what is known.
Figures are reviewed when new information appears. Read our Editorial Policy for how we handle sources and corrections.
